air hockey tips

Air Hockey Tips to Help You Improve Your Game

Many people think that playing air hockey is simply hitting the puck from one end of the table to the other trying to score a goal. They expect to step up to the table and become an air hockey ninja instantly. Of course, you can play like this, however there are air hockey tips you can try out and shots you can learn to help you improve your game. With that being said, read on below for a few of the top tips to help you become a master.

air hockey tips

Never Hope for the Best

One of the worst things you can do is smash the puck across the table and hold your breath hoping for the best. Instead, slow down, take a deep breath, study the opponent across from you and wait for your moment to strike and score.

Watch for Those Rebounds

If you strike the puck in the wrong way, nine times out of ten you are going to end up ricocheting off the back wall from your own shot. There is nothing worse to a master player than scoring an own goal. Combat this, by quickly getting back into your defensive position as soon as you take your shot, and you should be okay.

Never Use the Double Bank

Many players, even some of the pros, have a habit of using the double bank. What’s a double bank? This is where you hit the puck and it comes off two sides before it reaches your oppenents goal. Double banking takes all the pace out of the puck and provides time for your opponent to adjust and defend their position. If you are mounting a proper offense and playing your shot properly, your puck should never bank off of more than one wall before scoring in your opponent’s goal. Your shots will be crisp, clean and shoot directly into the goal if you are doing it properly.

Practice, Practice, Practice

If you are serious about being the king of the table, then you are going to have to practice your skills. You can’t expect to walk up to the hockey table and rule the room in the beginning. You have to practice, practice, practice if you want to be any good.

Play on a Quality Table

If you want to be an expert at air hockey, then you should try and play on the best air hockey table available. You don’t want to play on a table that has dead spots, or slips and slopes. You also want a table that has sturdy legs that doesn’t shake during game play. Remember – the better quality the table, the better your game will be.

Don’t Forget to Have Fun

The main way to become champ of the table is just by having fun. Remember, air hockey is a game and designed to have fun with your family and friends. Don’t forget that and you will go far.

These are just a few tips to help you own the table when playing air hockey. The biggest things are not forgetting to have fun, play on a table that is made of quality material, and practice the game whenever you can. Air hockey is fun, don’t ever forget!

Getting A Lean and Well-Toned Body Is Easy… When You Know How

It doesn’t matter what area of your body is that you want to get lean and toned. It all comes down to two simple facts. One you need enough muscle mass in the first place, and two you need as little fat as possible covering that area of your physique.
So you need to do either of the following:

Lose the fat that is presently covering your muscles.
Add some more muscle mass.
A combination of both together.

When it comes to first item on the list, losing the fat that is covering your muscle, one thing you can’t do is Spot Reduce the fat from one area of your body. For instance, you can do as many abdominal toning exercises as you want, but you won’t lose fat from just around your abs. Your body is only capable of losing fat from your entire body overall. Your genetics alone will determine where you lose the fat from first.

Now for item two, you have to lift enough weight or resistance that overloads your muscles in order for them to grow. If you can perform more than 12 repetitions of any exercise comfortably, without resting, then the weight or resistance is too light.

For item three, you can control your food/calorie intake and perform weight or resistance training exercises together. The more exercise you do the more fat you will burn from your whole body.

So having a well-toned body is simply a matter of having enough muscle mass and as low body fat as possible. There’s no magic pill or special exercise routine shortcut to a toned physique. All you need is well designed exercise program and a healthy eating plan.

Muscle groups

Muscle Groups For Fitness And Bodybuilding

Muscle groups

Muscle groups

It can be confusing, when you pick up a weight or use a machine; to know what muscle groups for fitness are which. While you don’t have to know where every single individual fitness muscle groups of the body are, it is helpful to have a basic understanding of the anatomy of your body.

Obviously, you know where your neck is. You have two basic neck muscles that you can focus on your weight training sessions. You have the upper trapezius, which runs down the back of your neck and the nebula neck to the shoulder. You also have, to muscles called the levator scapula, which allows you to raise your shoulder blades to your ears. When viewed from the front of your body that these two muscles that provide the sloping shape from your neck to the top of your shoulders.

The rest of the trapezius muscle group runs down your down your back to the waist on either side of your spine. Your trapezius muscles were involved in most of your shoulder movements, and they help to provide a muscle balance between your chest and your upper back.

The deltoid muscle is a muscle group that forms the round contour of the shoulder. When carrying heavy loads the deltoid work in tandem with the upper trapezius, this also comes into play every time you lift your arms up or down. They are generally divided into three groups, the anterior the front, middle, which runs down the side of the shoulder, and posterior which runs down the back part of the shoulder. There is also muscle called the rotator cuff muscle, which runs just below the anterior, front delt, from the armpit straight out.

The pectoral muscle is a thick fan shaped muscle situated in your chest makes up the bulk of the chest muscle in males and lies under the breast in the female. You also have a smaller pectoral muscle which is a triangular muscle situated at the upper part of the chest below pectoralis major in human body.

In your upper back, you have the latissimus dorsi muscles, usually called the lats. These muscles are located on each side of your back and helps you extend, rotate, and pull your arms toward your body. In your lower back, you have a group of muscles called the Erector spinæ. The erector spinae are an important muscle group which when strengthened correctly will provide good protection to your lumber region. The lumbar region area is the commonest area, where most people have back pain.

You have three major muscle groups in your arms. Your triceps, which run down the sides of your arms from, shoulder to elbow. Your tricep muscles have three distinct muscles heads, the lateral head that is on the outward facing side of the humerus, the muscle head that is most responsible for the horseshoe shape of the triceps. Then there is the medial head tricep muscle, which is in the mid-line of the arm. The long head muscle, which is at the bottom of the humerus and is the largest of the three tricep muscles..

Although most people are familiar with the bicep muscles, which are located on the inside of the upper arm, the triceps until you are and what make up two thirds of the actual size of the upper arm. You also have many very distinct muscles in your fore arms, used for both gripping, rotating your hands and flexing your fingers.

Your abs are located in the stomach area – or abdominal region hence their name!.

One of the strongest muscles in the human body is the one that you sit on, the buttocks or the gluteus muscles. These muscles are involved in such movement as writing from a seated chair or climbing the stairs.

In your legs, you have quadriceps muscles at the front, or quads. As the name quads suggest, this is a group of four muscle portions or heads. At the back of the upper leg, you have the hamstring muscles, which consist of three separate muscle groups. These are the semitendinosus, semimembranosus and biceps femoris. In the lower leg, from the knee to the ankle, you have the Gastrocnemius. This muscle has two heads, the medial and lateral, but when fully developed give a diamond shape. They’re Soleus muscle that lie under the Gastrocnemius, and are not visible from the outside of the human body.

Knowing where your main muscle groups for weight training are will help you to perform your weight training exercises as effectively as possible. When you know where the various muscle groups are in your anatomy, you can then choose the exercises to target them in your workouts. Know where your muscles are and help you succeed in your weight training and fitness goals

Braun Series 7 790cc Pulsonic Shaver System

Product Review – Braun Series 7 790cc Pulsonic Shaver System Review

Braun Series 7 790cc Pulsonic Shaver System

Braun Series 7 790cc Pulsonic Shaver System

After my brother picked up his very own Braun Series 7 790cc Pulsonic Shaver System from Amazon, I’ve based this unbiased product review on the Braun Series 7 Shaver currently available from them.

How Much:

$209.99 at the time of writing.

Before you do buy it, you’d do well to carry on reading my unbiased review of the Braun Series 7 790cc Pulsonic Shaver System – my brother owned this product for a short period of time now and he says it’s an incredible product.

Click here for the great price I found.

Who Would Buy This:

If you’re looking for the cleanest dry shave you’ve ever felt or seen without skin irritation or an uneven finish, then the Braun Series 7 790cc Pulsonic Shaver System is definitely the right one for you – keep reading to see further details about this excellent shaver from Braun.

Things We Liked About the Braun Series 7 790cc Pulsonic Shaver System:

Before buying anything, you should do your research and find out which is the perfect product for your needs. There’s nothing worse than buying something on a whim only to find out that it’s not what it cracked up to be.

The points I’ve included below should aid you in your decision making process and hopefully you’ll understand why the Braun Series 7 790cc Pulsonic Shaver System is such a popular product.

Could This Be the Perfect Shave?

My brother used to be a big fan of wet shaving, then he decided, to save time and ease, to move to dry shaving. Needless to say, his first experience was not a good one – the shaver grabbed and pulled the hair rather than giving him a clean and easy shaving experience. He went from shaver to shaver and just couldn’t find the right one for the right price, until he recently stumbled across the Braun Series 7 790cc Pulsonic Shaver System. He’s now kicking himself that he hadn’t found it sooner – his reaction – BOY what an incredible finish it gives.

The Braun Series 7 790cc Pulsonic Shaver System uses Pulsonic Technology to churn out a crazy amount of vibrations (I think it’s nearly 10,000 per minute!) to ensure more hair is caught in the working parts. On top of this, Braun’s trademarked ActiveLift system cleverly raises hair that’s flat against the skin for cutting – he thinks this is where his previous shavers were going wrong. This ActiveLift system works most effectively in those tedious areas such as the neck.

There’s more – the Braun Series 7 790cc Pulsonic Shaver System has a further trademarked system, namely the OptiFoil, which essentially gives you that perfect finish. It works in conjunction with the Pulsonic Technology and the ActiveLift system to capture even more hair than normal and cutting hair so close to the skin. My brothers first shave using this trio of magnificent features left him in awe – he couldn’t stop rubbing my hand over his face, to the point where he was late for work!

Easy To Clean

He does admit, the last shaver he used before the Braun Series 7 790cc Pulsonic Shaver System was actually pretty easy to clean, so when he heard that the Series 7 was an easy cleaner, he thought it would be similar to my old one. He was right, but not only was it similar, it was better!

The Braun Series 7 790cc Pulsonic Shaver System is fully waterproof and so is easily washed under the tap. If you were really clever, you’d take it into the shower to shave whilst showering – who said men can’t multitask?! Alternatively, just hit the Clean and Renew System button to give the Braun Series 7 Shaver a fully automated clean lasting a swift 25 seconds.

Gone are his days of having to use a brush on the inside of his old shaver and tapping it against the sink to get the final bits of hair out. The Braun Series 7 790cc Pulsonic Shaver System is a masterpiece!

Things We Did Not Like About the Braun Series 7 790cc Pulsonic Shaver System:

He didn’t find this out personally, since he’s clean shaven, but I did some research for you on the web. I’ve read a fair amount of negative reviews stating that the Braun Series 7 790cc Pulsonic Shaver System didn’t work well for people with big beards. Hmmm, now I wonder if these people realise that it’s a shaver, not a beard trimmer. You have to wonder what goes through some minds these days – I immediately dismissed these reviews as stupidity, as should you. If you are looking to buy the Braun Series 7 790cc Pulsonic Shaver System to trim your thick and heavy beard, please look elsewhere!

I believe Braun is offering a 60 day guarantee for the Braun Series 7 790cc Pulsonic Shaver System, along with a 2 year warranty.

At time of writing, Amazon are being very generous, as per usual, and offering free shipping on this product.

Is the Braun Series 7 790cc Pulsonic Shaver System Worth the Money?

If you really want one of the best shaves possible, then you should definitely look to pick up the Braun Series 7 790cc Pulsonic Shaver System – it’s not expensive and is most definitely worth the money.

Where Can I Buy the Braun Series 7 790cc Pulsonic Shaver System?

I would look to nobody else other than Amazon – I’ve purchased countless products from them and quite honestly can’t think of anywhere better.

More Customer Reviews of the Braun Series 7 790cc Pulsonic Shaver System:

You should do as I have done and read the crazy reviews as to how good the Braun Series 7 790cc Pulsonic Shaver System really is. Happy customers are going wild over the Braun Series 7 790cc Pulsonic Shaver System, so don’t delay!

Do You Suffer From These Two Irritating Problems When You Shave?

wet razor

Wet Razor

It’s one task that I dread, and that I have to do every day. It doesn’t matter whether I do it first thing in the morning or last thing at night. It’s the practise of taking a very sharp blade and dragging it across my face. With the intention of removing my facial hair, without cutting myself or giving myself a razor rash. I’ve tried growing a beard in order to avoid having to shave. But I just looked like a very uncool hippy. I never managed a thick luxuriant growth, more a case of a clump of straggly hairs sprouting from my mouth and chin.

Strange thing is I’ve managed to slice my finger on a razor that wasn’t sharp enough to give me a close shave! That’s a painful way of checking razors sharpness. While the cuts don’t tend to be very deep, boy do they bleed and can be very sore.

Talking of cuts, I’ve managed on several occasions to plaster myself in so many small cuts, I’ve had half a box of tissues stuck to my face while the blood dries. I’ve now found that applying some petroleum jelly helps to stop scabs forming. Once I’ve stemmed the worst of the blood flow.

Razor Burn

Razor burn is another problem I quite often have, usually because I do use blunt razors too often. I’m also guilty of being in too much of a rush to get my shave over and done with. Instead of using slow and gentle strokes, and going with the direction of the hair, I’m often guilty of doing exactly the opposite. I apply too much pressure, an almost guaranteed way of cutting myself. I move the razor round my face as fast as I can, using quick, brisk strokes.

So by using a sharp razor, using petroleum jelly on razor cuts, and using slow gentle strokes with my razor, I should minimise skin irritation to my face. And go a long way toward making shaving less of a chore and a more enjoyable experience.

Facial Skin Care and Shaving – 3 Tips

face shaving

Face Shaving

When it comes to shaving creams and lotions, I’ve found that a shaving gel works better for me than a cream or lotion. I have used a shaving brush and the appropriate shaving soap, and found that to be a good alternative. Shaving gels, especially those for sensitive skin, seem to be less irritating than creams and lotions. Whatever I use, I do get a better shave when I take the time to massage the gel or soap into my face, with water as hot as I can stand it.

One thing I do have to avoid is any after-shave that has alcohol as their primary ingredient. Especially straight after I’ve shaved, the time you’re supposed to splash some on your face. All most after-shave lotions give me is a dry and stinging face, which certainly doesn’t feel very good to me. Menthol based products also have a similar effect for me as the alcohol based ones. The ‘cool’ sensation is great, the soreness and irritation is not so great.

Along with using petroleum jelly to stop scabs from forming when I’ve cut myself, I find using a moisturiser every other day helps to protect my face, and lessens the irritations I get from shaving.

I hope you find these tips useful, especially if you do suffer from skin irritation because of shaving.

3 Important Food Compounds For Building Muscle And General Fitness

Pasta salad and pork chop

Pasta salad and pork chop

There’s a saying “Garbage in, garbage out”, whose origins lie in the early days of computing. If you put faulty data in, you got faulty data out. Well the same principle applies to your diet. For long, enough I thought I could eat pretty much what I wanted in the way of junk food, and still build a lean, well-toned physique just by working out. How wrong I was. My diet and the portions I was eating were far more important than I realised.

I was wasting a lot of my workout time, because I wasn’t eating a diet that supported the gain and maintenance of the muscle tissue I was trying to build. Before I go any further, I wasn’t weightlifting and working out to look like a bodybuilder. For one thing, I couldn’t afford to buy the amount of food needed to get to that stage, and for another I didn’t want to spend my life in the gym working out. I just wanted to look good enough to take my t-shirt off in the summer. Now, besides not eating to support my muscle gains and maintenance, I wasn’t providing my body with enough quality food to fuel my workouts and keep my body functioning at its peak.

When it came to planning a diet to support my muscle gain, and improve the overall health of my body was simpler than I thought. Despite the overwhelming, and more often than not conflicting advice when it comes to choosing a diet and eating healthily, there were some simple tips that put me on the right path. There are three main food groups that are essential to getting and maintaining a healthy body. They are protein, carbohydrates and fat.

The Building Blocks

Protein, with the exception of water makes up more of the body than anything else does. Protein is responsible for repairing, maintaining and building muscle tissue. It also acts as an energy source after your body has burned up its carbohydrates. When it comes to the actual amount of protein, you need to eat every day, the debate swing between what the average person needs and as much as you can eat. The simplest recommendation is to eat 1 gram of protein for every pound of your bodyweight. So, for example if you weigh 170 lbs. you would eat 170 grams of protein a day. You don’t have to be religious about this; it’s no big deal if one day you only eat 130 grams one day.

For the women, because you naturally have less lean muscle mass than men do, you should aim for around 0.8 grams of protein for 1 lbs. bodyweight.

For anybody who is obese, it would be as well to lower your daily protein amount. And start from the sort of bodyweight you would like to be or were before you became too overweight.

Your best protein sources are from meats, dairy products, legumes and supplements. You can get a variety of protein powders, which you can mix with water or milk. And studies have shown that these types of supplement, in liquid form, your body absorbs more quickly and uses more efficiently.

Carbohydrates Are Not All Bad

Carbohydrates, contrary to popular belief are good for you. Although there are, plenty of fad diets that would have you believe you shouldn’t touch carbs with a barge pole. Mainly because they contain ‘fattening’ starch and sugar. Yes, carbs are fattening if you eat a lot of highly refined breads, cakes and sugary snacks. And most of us eat too many starch and sugary snacks; because once carbohydrates are refined and processed, they don’t ‘fill you up’. Once you take away the fibre, which nearly all unprocessed carbohydrates have in their natural state, you’ve taken away the ‘filling’ part, which would have satisfied your hunger.

In their natural, unrefined state, carbohydrates are you bodies first source of energy, because they are quick burning. You can get a fast boost for your workouts with a banana, apple or orange; you could even eat dried fruit for the same effect. The more complex versions like whole grains and rice can give you a slower and more sustained energy supply to fuel your workouts. If you don’t have enough complex carbs in your diet, then your body will turn to using your body’s protein supply for fuel during your workouts. It’s better to avoid this, because your body uses the protein, you eat to repair and maintain your muscles, and tissues in your body. Your muscles, your organs, and your immune system consist mostly of protein.

Fat Contains Essential Nutrients

Fat is an important part of your diet, and eating fat doesn’t necessarily make you fat and overweight. In fact eating high fat foods instead of low fat foods can be better for you. For one thing, you will feel full sooner with a high fat food and it’ll take longer for you to feel hungry again. I quite often have a small block of full fat cheese, sometimes with some peanuts and sometimes without, and I feel full for far longer than if I’d eaten some wholemeal bread.

Four important vitamins are fat-soluble; your body needs fat in order to use them. They are vitamins A, D, E and K. Lots of foods taste far better in their natural fat form, than their fat free counterparts. Your body needs some essential fatty acids that you can only get by eating foods that have… fat already in them! Fat also provides energy in its slowest burning form, protects your internal organs and aids in brain functioning. Just 1g provides nine calories – more than double the calories in 1g of protein or carbohydrate.

One easy way to eating these nutrients in the right amounts is to take your dinner plate and divide it into four imaginary segments. For two of the segments put your protein in one and your wholemeal carbohydrates in the other. Your other two segments fill both with vegetables and with fruit, except for potatoes. Potatoes are similar to bread when it comes to calories. This combination will give you a good base for a diet that will give you energy. Keep you feeling satisfied as opposed to hungry and tired, and will keep your body functioning so that you will actually gain and maintain the muscle you are working so hard to build.
