The Transformations Stress Reduction program is based on the work of Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D., founder of the highly successful Stress Reduction Clinic at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center.
Two decades of published research at the University of Massachusetts indicate that most people who participate in the program report improvement in their physical and psychological symptoms. Mindfulness is a powerful meditative process which allows you to be more in the moment and less reactive. You will learn how to relax in any situation. This program is recommended for people with any of the following conditions: pain, cancer, stress, heart disease, anxiety and panic disorders, GI distress, fatigue, insomnia, depression and other chronic conditions.

Certified MBSR Instructor
Allison Burns-Pentecost, M.A. first discovered Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) in 2004 when she took the 8-week, 9-session class with Trish Maguri, M.S at University of Maryland, Center for Integrative Medicine and it changed her life. She found that the practice allowed for a much needed balance, clarity and peacefulness. Allison welcomes you to explore this opportunity to gain mindfulness skills that may be applied to the challenges of medical or psychological conditions as well as everyday life stressors.
Allison received her training in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) through the University of Massachusetts, School of Medicine. She participated in professional training programs under the direction of Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn and Dr. Saki Santorelli; and completed the “Teacher Training Practicum” with Melissa Blacker, M.A. and Florence Meleo-Meyer, M.S., M.A. at the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care and Society at University of Massachusetts, School of Medicine. She holds a masters degree in psychology from Boston University and is currently a doctoral student in Clinical Psychology at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.
