Three Reasons People Stay Away From Weight Training.

Number 1

If feels strange and unnatural. The main aim of weight training is to lift as heavy as weight as possible for a given number of repetitions. In our day to day activities we rarely if ever pushes ourselves like this, to the point of physical and muscular fatigue.

Number 2

We’re frightened of causing ourselves injury. When you first start weight training you get burning sensations in your muscles and are usually sore for a day or two after. Although this soreness does usually go away after a few days.

Number 3

There’s a psychological barrier to overcome when it comes to lifting weights. There’s a lot of discomfort to cope with when lifting weights. It can be very physically challenging to perform several sets of repetitions with a heavy weight across your shoulders. Or to push a heavy weight above your head.

It’s these sort of fears that lead to a lot of people lifting weights that are far too light to give them any real physical benefit. And/or staying with the same level of weight and program for months or years at a time. It’s like going on the treadmill and working out at the pace and same distance all the time. You won’t get anymore aerobically stronger or fitter. It’s the same with weight training. If you don’t increase the weight you won’t get any stronger.
